GENDER BASED VIOLENCE

We focus on reducing domestic violence through community based programs. Our goals are to build a society that is free from all forms of violence. works on addressing the root causes of violence and breaking the cycle on domestic abuse through various means, one of which is their access to Justice and Children ’s Right Initiative.

IYO aims at imparting the youths with the knowledge and skills on their rights in order to be free from any form of Gender Based Violence as well as to posses’ great economic independence. The target group in and out of school youths aged between 11-24 years old. We have put added emphasis on gender-based violence, awareness and response services because of the overwhelming need and lack of services available. There is a high prevalence of domestic violence, community violence and a lack of social safety nets in slum communities .Our programs are targeted to specific age groups and address today’s environmental, cultural, and societal factors through the following medium; Holding school/learning institution sessions, engage religious and political leaders, Community forums, Government Instructions, Radio sessions, engaging men and boys and Use of Social Platform.

HEALTH (AFYA) PROGRAM

Health Program deals with health-related challenges in the community our goal is to improve health, change the perception of health, and increase
access to medical facilities. For this purpose we have various projects that enable us to:

  • Increase awareness, especially about the prevention of prevailing conditions
  • Promote effects of FGM/C and related issues such as HIV/AIDS and change attitudes.
  •  Improve health access, related to activities in the schools especially to children with disabilities. We work together with the Local government authority (LGAs) as well as community health workers, commulity leaders, and home based care workers, to strengthen the network of health  care providers, public events and educational seminars are conducted as well as home visits.

EDUCATION

IYO has worked to ensure that youth of all ages have access to quality learning opportunities. The Network operates programms institutions that span the educational ladder, from early childhood programs to primary and secondary schools from vocational studies for youth and adults to university degrees and continuing professional development. IYO seeks to ensure that children and young people are equipped with the knowledge, skills, attitudes and values to help them interact effectively with the world and be contributing members of a pluralist society.

PEOPLE WITH DISSABILTY

IYO focus on promote an understanding of Disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity rights and well being of Persons With Disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be delivered from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life. We partner with disability activists to help them access the tools, resources and support they need to build powerful movements for Change

ENTREPRENEURSHIP

IYO seeks to create economically sound and viable enterprises, both in small or remote villages and in citie.IYO for example works not only to bring prosperity to community but it also puts into place the means to do so building roads bridges and markets. Its accelerate Prosperity programmer promote entrepreneurship placing emphasis on women and youth entrepreneurship and the growth of start-up and early stage businesses. We focus on skills development in vocational and technical trades. Aim of course is to support entrepreneurs create the means for expanding their businesses and becoming a part of the productive in community.

GOOD GOVERNANCE

IYO is passionate to see that women, young and people with disability are a force for positive change in the country without women and young people empowerment and creating conducive environment which ensures that are participating in political, development and socioeconomic processes the transformation we are referring to is not likely to happen.
